National data shows little change in employment rate since start of September

SALT LAKE CITY — The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports little change in both the national employment rate and the number of unemployed people since the start of September.

According to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate is 4.1% while the number of unemployed people in the U.S. is 6.8 million.

However, the Bureau said the number of people working in food services and drinking places, health care, government, social assistance and construction all went up since September of 2023.

The total increase is 254,000 people. According to the Bureau, this is “higher than the average monthly gain of 203,000,” since last September.

There was little change in employment in other industries, the Bureau said.
