Election Day expected to bring fake threats to the polls

SALT LAKE CITY — Election officials and law enforcement agencies across the country are bracing themselves for fake threats at voting locations according to Politico.
Former Utah County Clerk Josh Daniels said fake threats are another reason to participate in early voting or vote-by-mail.
“Get your ballot turned in early to make sure you’re able to participate no matter what might happen,” he said.
According to Daniels, these threats are usually hoaxes. However, he said he trusts law enforcement’s preparations for Election Day safety and their ability to mitigate threats.
“While they should be taken, seriously, if there really is a threat, I think they’ll [law enforcement] be prepared to deal with the possibility that there are hoaxes and other kinds of mischief going on,” said Daniels.
Daniels said people should not let these threats keep them from the polls.
“At the end of the day, people have to have a little bravery and also a little bit of faith in their fellow man. More often than not, these types of things nowadays, tend to be hoaxes,” said Daniels.
