SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Hockey Club and FM100.3 teamed up Tuesday evening to officially ring in Christmas. At 4:58 p.m., UHC players Sean Durzi and John Marino helped KSL NewsRadio sister station FM100.3 (KSFI) flip the switch. The move marks the beginning of this year’s holiday music season.
Utah loves Christmas
FM100.3 host Rebecca Cressman helped spread the word about the start of the new season.
“It was very, very exciting,” she said. “This becomes one of the most listened-to Christmas music stations in the country because Utah loves Christmas and the holidays.”
She said at FM100.3, it’s all Christmas music, all season.
“I absolutely love it, because I do believe that music carries kind of a feeling with it. And I think the world has been kind of stressed and maybe even more so this year,” Cressman said. “It’s all about coming together, remembering the love of our brother and sister and taking care of each other. The music is like a blanket of love and peace that comes all across the Wasatch Front.”
She says listeners can expect a few new songs in the rotation. She also emphasized that the holiday classics their audience is used to will still be played.
FM100.3 concert series
Throughout the holiday season, FM100.3 hosts a Christmas concert series. The series features shows from local musicians at the Shops at South Town. Those concerts begin at noon, are free, and this year will feature musicians such as Gentri, Alex Boyé, the Bonner Family, Jenny Oakes Baker, Peter Breinholt, and more.
“You just sit and feel,” she said. “There’s something about live concerts that also brings us together and brings us that peace.”
The concerts will typically be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the first one will take place on Black Friday.
