Huntsville lifts boil water order, urges residents to flush pipes

HUNTSVILLE, Utah — The city of Huntsville has lifted a boil order for its culinary water system that’s been in effect since Dec. 10.
According to city officials, workers have finished repairing a large leak. It reportedly took several days to clear out the water system to a point where residents no longer needed to boil water to drink or cook with it.
The city recommends that users flush out their pipes at home if the water is discolored. They can flush their system by running cold-water faucets for at least five minutes.
The city also suggests disinfecting ice trays and ice makers. And they urge residents not to forget their pet bowls.
Huntsville leak
It took some time for Huntsville officials to find the leak. It was finally located Dec. 16 near the Huntsville water treatment facility with the help of specialized microphones.
KSL TV reported the pipe was 22 years old and had burst at the seams.
