Suspected DUI driver arrested after hitting and killing pedestrian in Ogden, police say

OGDEN, Utah — A driver who fled after hitting and killing a pedestrian in Ogden Friday evening is in police custody.
Ogden Police say the suspect is an adult male. According to their press release, at approximately 5:25 p.m. they received multiple reports of a suspected DUI driver near 42nd St. and Harrison Blvd.
At 5:29 p.m. officers heard that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that matched the description of the suspected DUI driver at 20th St. and Harrison Blvd.
The suspect fled, then hit another vehicle within a few minutes at 12th St. and Harrison Blvd. This was where police took the suspect into custody.
Police say the individuals struck at 12th St. and Harrison Blvd. suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police also say the pedestrian struck at 20th St. and Harrison Blvd., approximately a 50-year-old male, suffered critical injuries. After receiving immediate medical assistance, the man later died at the hospital.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection with the light when the suspect vehicle struck and pushed another vehicle into the pedestrian and fled,” the press release stated.
