SARATOGA SPRINGS — A man from Eagle Mountain has been arrested for impersonating an officer and threatening two men walking along a trail.
A police probable cause statement says Jerred Martin Loftus, 41, of Eagle Mountain, approached the two men walking down a trail at Inlet Park in Saratoga Springs and started arguing with them.
Police say Loftus then accused the men of being illegal immigrants and told them he was a corrections officer.
One of the men claims Loftus said he was armed and threatened to shoot them and “bury them in the woods.”
They called police, but officers say Loftus fled before they got there. Eventually, they caught up with him. He denied threatening the men.
Police did find a gun belt, handgun and several magazines in his truck.
Loftus was booked into jail yesterday for investigation of impersonating an officer and aggravated assault. He has since posted bail.
