Shots fired at UTA bus, tanker on Highway 89

Police say a UTA bus and tanker were hit by gunfire early Monday morning as they drove south on Highway 89 between 200 North and Nicholls Road.
FRUIT HEIGHTS — Police say a UTA bus and tanker were hit by gunfire early Monday morning as they drove south on Highway 89 between 200 North and Nicholls Road.
Nine people were on the UTA bus when a bullet hit a window on the driver’s side, near the front of the vehicle.
Neighbors called 911 to report hearing gunshots around 5:15 AM.
Officers say it appeared someone used a handgun to shoot between five and ten shots at the bus but no one was injured.
The tanker stopped further down the road after being hit and officers say they hope to sift through its load of concrete dust to find the bullet that struck its side.
Officers and police dogs from several agencies were combing through an orchard off highway 89 and a neighborhood up the hill on Mountain Road for casings and any possible evidence from the shooting.

Police are asking the public for any information relating to the shooting.
