Mr. Bushman is the BIGGEST artist in Utah County – at 6 ft. 5in. tall! He also has a very big heart!

Working at a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) School is not easy for an artist. Sometimes the students do not value the arts as much as the art teacher. Mr. Bushman has found a way to incorporate the (STEM) focus of the Utah County Academy of Sciences (UCAS) into his classroom. He has talked with each of the subject area teachers finding out what they are learning about and when so that he can have his students draw animals that are being studied in Biology, or plants that they may be learning about. For physics, he will have students draw gears, machines and more, for Math, students draw tessellations and make snowflakes while talking about the math behind them.

Outside of class, Mr. Bushman also goes above and beyond his work as a teacher. He has volunteered to help on our school’s HOPE squad. He designs t-shirts, bulletin boards and activity posters for the HOPE squad. He also attends monthly meetings on his own prep time and helps our counselor run the HOPE squad.

Outside of school, Mr. Bushman draws cartoon caricatures of each and every one of our graduating senior students as a gift. When students send him information regarding where they may go on an LDS mission once they are in the mission field, he sends them birthday and Christmas postcards that he has designed, and, when students send us a wedding announcement, he draws a caricature of the happy couple and sends it to them as a wedding gift. We are so lucky to have the BIGGEST artist with the BIGGEST heart at UCAS!
