More than one person responsible for prank involving TVs on Virginia porches

Aug 15, 2019, 10:31 AM

There are pranksters in Virginia getting national attention for the “vintage” objects they are leaving on the porches of unsuspecting residents.

The city of Glen Allen has seen more than 50 old TV sets carefully placed in the middle of their porches by people wearing tv masks.

“I thought my son brought it home,” Michael Kroll told WTVR, “but apparently not. …They had way too much time on their hands if they had all these TVs and spread them out all over the neighborhood.”

The surreptitious drops were all made on the night of August 10. Residents across the city woke up to find the old tube-style TVs on their porches.

Henrico County Police said they received reports from more than one person “wearing a mask resembling a television” that had dropped off a TV on their property.

“In just over an hour, officers were able to speak with residents and remove a lot of unwanted televisions,” Lt. Matt Pecka told WTVR.

This isn’t the first time that this has happened, though. WTVR reports that 20 TVs were left on doorsteps in much the same fashion in 2018.

We want to hear from you.
