LOGAN — On Monday night, local law enforcement was made aware of an Instagram post that included a bomb threat directed at Logan High School.
Later, a Logan City School District Facebook post detailed what happened after the threat was reported.
Once made aware of the Instagram post, local and federal officials began investigating. They attempted to identify the perpetrator(s) and ensure the safety of the school.
Bomb-sniffing dogs brought into the school
Officials brought bomb-sniffing dogs from the Utah Joint Terrorism Task Force and Utah State University Police Department to the high school. The bomb-sniffing dogs were directed through the school in the early morning hours of November 9th.
Typically the high school day begins for students at 8:00 am. However, to ensure a thorough search and student safety, school was delayed by two hours. Classes were scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 10:00 am.
School day continues as normal after 10:00 am
A Facebook posting by the Logan City School District said that all buses would follow their typical routes and that the school would dismiss as usual at 2:45 pm.
Other schools in the Logan City School District, including elementary schools and Mount Logan Middle School, were scheduled to continue as normal.
An increased police presence is expected at Logan High throughout the day on Wednesday. Officials will continue to monitor the threat.
The investigation is on-going
Logan City Police reported that the investigation is ongoing. However, the search of the school and surrounding campus has “not yet produced any threat to students, staff, or property.”
