PROVO, Utah — The Missionary Training Center in Provo is adding certain COVID-19 safety measures, including the requirement of masks and increased testing.

Earlier this week, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced that many of their missionaries tested positive for COVID-19. The Church said 91 of the 588 missionaries, or 15%, had a confirmed case of COVID-19.

The Missionary Training Center is reinstituting a mask mandate for their missionaries, a measure that had previously been terminated.

Additionally, the MTC will now require proof of a negative test before individuals go on their missions. Any newly arriving missionaries will also be required to have a negative test.

The Provo MTC will continue to operate at reduced capacity to allow for distancing.
