Police were called to American Fork Junior High on Wednesday on reports of a student with a gun in their backpack (American Fork Police Department).

(American Fork Police Department)

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — A 19-year-old man was taken into custody Friday for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend.

According to the probable cause statement, two vehicles entered the parking lot of the American Fork Police Department just after 2 p.m.

The first car pulled up to officer Josh Jensen with a female in the passenger seat. A second car pulled up behind it. The female explained to officer Jensen that her ex-boyfriend was in the car behind them. She stated that he had been following them and wants them to stop.

Her ex-boyfriend, Abraham Ledesma, got out of his car and approached the driver side of the victim’s vehicle. Officer Jensen order Ledesma back to his car and to wait.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim told police that Ledesma had been following them around the Provo area on I-15. As he was following them, Ledesma would pull up next to the victim’s vehicle and tell them to roll down the window.

The probable cause statement also mentioned that Ledesma tailgated the victim, getting within 2 or 3 feet of the rear of the car.

The victim expressed her concern to police that she isn’t sure what Ledesma would do if he caught her, according to the probable cause statement. The victim admitted that she had been in a two-year relationship with Ledesma but had broken up two months ago.

During their relationship, Ledesma had physically assaulted the victim, but it went unreported, according to the probable cause statement. After their breakup, Ledesma had been trying to contact the victim to talk. She, however, had told him to stop trying to contact her several times. Additionally, she has blocked him on several social media platforms. However, he created false social media accounts in an effort to make contact her with her.

Ledesma had even reached out to the victim’s family to find her. According to the probable cause statement, the victim was able to show authorities the multiple times Ledesma has texted or called her friends.  As part of the alleged stalking, Ledesma had even left a note on her car Thursday night asking her to call him.

After being read his Miranda rights, Ledesma admitted to authorities that he had sat outside the victim’s home four hours on Friday, waiting for her to leave, according to the probable cause statement. He also admitted that the victim was trying to get away from him when they exited I-15 in American Fork.

Authorities also performed a Terry frisk on Ledesma and discovered a box cutter in a pocket.

Ledesma has been booked into the Utah County Jail on investigation of stalking.
