ST. GEORGE, Utah — A small out-of-state group is facing multiple charges after police said they pulled apart an ATM in St. George and stole thousands of dollars.

In a press release, authorities said they responded to an alarm at a Chase Bank (1999 West Sunsent Blvd.) early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, they found an ATM that had been torn apart. An undisclosed amount of money was missing.

Security footage led  police to an abandoned white truck with chains on the rear bumper. Police believe the truck had been used to pull apart the St. George ATM.

Soon after the police arrived at the bank, two cars believed to be involved in the theft were spotted by Hurricane police.  An attempt to find the suspects led St. George police to a motel where they believed the suspects were staying.

A 20-mile chase ensued. Police said when the car crashed, five suspects fled the scene on foot. They were eventually apprehended, along with a sixth suspect.

Four of the people arrested were from Texas, one from Louisiana and one from Missouri.

Between the six suspects, 44 charges were submitted to prosecutors.
