WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired around a West Valley home early this morning. No one was injured and police are still working to find out what happened.

West Valley City Lt. Bill Merrett described the scene officers encountered.

The officers arrived in the neighborhood around 1415 W San Carlos Drive and began looking for where the shots had come from.

“They found a home that has multiple bullet holes in the front window,” he said.

Merrett said the officers could hear voices coming from inside but couldn’t see anyone. They backed away to safety.

Officers unsuccessfully attempted to reach the household through several known phone numbers.

They set up a “surround and call out”; a tactic where the officers surrounded the home, turned on all their lights, and called out to the residents through the PA system.

This tactic failed too.

“Fortunately we had a family member show up on scene [and] gave us the phone number of the people inside,” said Merrett.

The people inside the home came out at that time.

Merrett said they are not being forthcoming with information.

WVCPD is still investigating the scene. As of now the officers believe two guns were used in the shootings, but the guns in question have not been found.

Police do not know who shot the guns.

Merrett said that detectives will investigating further, and will get a warrant to better search the home.
