Ogden Schools make strides in security efforts

OGDEN, UTAH — Back to school is well underway and for Ogden School district, so is the implementation of new security.
Over the next two months, nine schools within the Ogden School District will be installing doorbell security cameras along with more secure entryways.
The Ogden School Board approved the project worth more than $46,000 earlier this month. The funding will go toward new entry systems, forcing people coming into the building to call an office attendant through the video camera at which point an attendant can disengage a lock.
District spokesperson Jer Bates tells the Standard-Examiner that they’re getting this done now not because of anything that’s happened but because this happened to be the year they could.
The Ogden schools making these updates include Bonneville, Heritage, Lincoln, James Madison, New Bridge, Odyssey, Shadow Valley, Wasatch Elementary, and Highland Junior High.
