OREM, Utah — Police arrested an Orem man on Sunday after his 10-month-old daughter overdosed on fentanyl.

The little girl’s life was ultimately saved but the investigation into 33-year-old Jazz Christopher Rockwood started seven days ago when police were told at the hospital that a baby was unresponsive and was given naloxone to revive her.

Police documents show that not only did the baby girl get one dose of naloxone but she got two and was eventually put on a naloxone drip because of the drugs she ingested.

Rockwood was at the hospital five days earlier being treated for a drug overdose.

According to police documents, the girl’s mother told doctors she got a hold of oxycodone pills from Rockwood’s pocket. She later changed her story, telling doctors the girl put blue powder in her mouth that she found in the dryer vent along with a quarter.

A toxicology test completed Thursday show the drugs were in fact fentanyl

The hospital told police they’ve seen blue pills being sold on the street as oxy but the drugs really made of fentanyl.

On Aug. 21 Rockwood was booked without bail on charges of aggravated child abuse and endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult.
