SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service out of Salt Lake City says with certainty that this month is going to be one of the warmest Octobers on record.
“And that’s following, of course, our warmest September not only in Salt Lake, but across pretty much all of Utah,” said NaWSMeteorologist Jon Wilson.

Ten days into the month and it’s the sixth warmest on record, according to Wilson.
“It’s definitely a warm start to the month,” he said. “Pretty much the whole state of Utah is about two to six degrees warmer than average.”
According to Wilson, the average temperature on Oct. 1 is 73 degrees in Salt Lake City. By Oct. 31, the average temperature in Salt Lake usually falls to 58 degrees.
He says with the drop in temperatures more weather systems will come that bring rain and eventually snow to the state.
However, Wilson doesn’t see that this October so far. He says the warm temperatures are expected to hang around for the next seven to 10 days.
“The biggest uncertainty is what happens in those last 10 days of the month,” he said.
