Storm to bring high winds and snow to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service warned Utahns of an upcoming storm that could bring high winds and cold conditions to the state.

Most of the snow should stay in the mountains. But, temperatures are expected to drop below 30 degrees on Monday morning. So, snow in the valley is definitely a possibility.
Strong winds are what can be expected first. The National Weather Service Twitter page says that winds upwards of 50 miles per hour may be present in southwest and south-central Utah on Saturday. The NWS advises people in affected areas to secure outdoor objects and prepare for the possibility of a power outage.
Wind Advisories are now in effect for a large portion of northwest Utah.
NEW: Wind Advisories are now in effect until 6pm for a large portion of northwest Utah, including the Wasatch Front. Overall, the weather risk is moderate at the worst. But, Utahn’s should take the necessary precautions to make sure that the effect of the storm is as minimal as possible.
