Free public transit rides come to Heber Valley

HEBER CITY, Utah — In the summer of 2022, Wasatch County Council approved a sales tax which is now providing funding for free public transit rides throughout Heber Valley. 

Wasatch County and High Valley Transit entered a three-year, $3 million agreement to offer public bus transit services between Wasatch and Summit Counties, along with micro-transit services throughout Heber Valley, according to a press release. 

Further, the new service is operated by High Valley Transit and runs from Heber Valley Hospital on the south end of Heber Valley.

Riders can make stops near Walmart, Holiday Lanes Bowling, Wasatch Commons Apartments, Park City Medical Center, with final stop on the route being at Fresh Market on Park Avenue in Park City.

Complete with a bike, ski and snowboard rack, the local Heber Valley Hospital made a financial contribution through its community benefit program to help cover the busses operational costs.

Departures and return rides

Heber Valley confirmed in a press release that the 106 Wasatch Back Connector route between Heber Valley and Park City offers five daily morning departures from Heber Valley at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 a.m., and three daily afternoon departures from Heber Valley at 4:00, 5:00, and 7:00 p.m.

After catching any of these departure busses, the return schedule from Park City returning to Heber Valley, there are from Park City at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 a.m., and five daily evening return routes from Park City at 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, and 8:00 p.m.

In a “Lyft” or “Uber” fashion, riders can request rides or “micro-transits” between Free micro-transit within Heber Valley via the mobile app or by calling 435-246-1538. The only difference being the stops must be between 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. and its free!

Average time for the free transit rides according to the city is between five and 15 minutes and will hold up to four total passengers.
