Lori Vallow Daybell extradited to Arizona to face murder charges

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — One of Idaho’s most infamous prison inmates is now in Arizona custody. Officials extradited convicted murderer Lori Vallow Daybell to Maricopa County on charges of murder.
Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone said his team extradited Vallow Daybell from Pocatello, Idaho in the last 24 hours and booked her into the county jail.
“She had her initial appearance at about 2 a.m. when she was remanded without bond. So the case will now be in the hands of the county attorney,” he said.
The extradition came almost two months after Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed an executive agreement with Arizona approving the transfer.
According to Penzone, officers were deliberate and careful in extraditing Vallow Daybell.
“Sometimes I think we look at a person and judge them by appearance when we go ‘Well, this is a relatively moderate-sized female, what kind of a threat can she be?’ She is as much, if not more, of a threat to the harm of others as any other dangerous criminal we’ve had in our custody,” said Penzone.
Murder charges
Vallow Daybell faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of premeditated first-degree murder in Arizona. The charges are related to the death of her fourth husband Charles Vallow and the shooting of Brandon Boudreaux, the ex-husband of Vallow Daybell’s niece.
Vallow Daybell is currently serving a life sentence in Idaho for the murders of her two youngest children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow. She’s also serving a sentence for conspiring to murder Tammy Daybell, the late wife of Vallow Daybell’s current husband, Chad Daybell. Chad goes on trial in 2024 on charges alleging he killed Tammy, Tylee, and JJ.
“I know the importance of making sure that this office handles our business professionally and efficiently,” Penzone said.
After her court case wraps up, Penzone said authorities will send Vallow Daybell back to Idaho to the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center.
