SALT LAKE CITY — Closing arguments in Lori Vallow Daybell’s Arizona trial are set to begin on Monday. She is accused of conspiring to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, in 2019.

The prosecution has already rested its case after calling more than a dozen witnesses and presenting evidence suggesting Vallow Daybell conspired with her late brother, Alex Cox, who shot Charles Vallow in 2019.

Vallow Daybell, representing herself, told the court she doesn’t plan to call anyone in her defense.

“Are you going to present evidence tomorrow either through witnesses or through your own testimony?” asked the judge.

“No, your honor, the defense will rest,” she said.

She is expected to formally rest her case on Monday ahead of closing arguments.

“How long does the state anticipate its closing argument being?” asked the judge.

“I would assume probably over an hour,” the prosecutor said.

“How about the defense?” asked the judge.

“Less than that,” Vallow Daybell responded.

The jury will then begin deliberating. Regardless of the jury’s decision, Vallow Daybell will continue serving multiple life sentences in Idaho for the murders of her two youngest children and conspiring to murder her current husband’s first wife.
