Driver fatally veers into Pineview Reservoir

OGDEN, Utah — A person is dead after their car veered into Pineview Reservoir in Ogden on Thursday night.

The Utah Highway Patrol had received reports of a car driving recklessly through Ogden Canyon. But before UHP could intercept the car, it crashed into the reservoir.

“They were able to deploy divers down into the water to make the recovery of the vehicle, and also the recovery of the body in the vehicle using those resources, and were also able to assist the towing company to get the vehicle out of the water,” UHP Sgt. Brandon Whitehead told KSL NewsRadio.

Emergency crews were immediately dispatched and successfully recovered a body from the reservoir.

UHP is investigating the incident.
