PAYSON, Utah — Utah Live Concerts Foundation has teamed up with Payson City to present the “Here Comes the Sun” rock and roll festival.

The event will happen on June 28 and 29 at Payson Memorial Park. According to the press release, admission is free.

“Here Comes the Sun” will feature a number of bands. The music begins at 2 p.m. on Friday. Each band will present an hour-long performance.

The bands are comprised of performers of all ages. An email to KSL NewsRadio said that details about some of the bands can be found on the Utah Live Concerts Foundation’s Instagram profile.

On Saturday, the festival will begin with a welcome ceremony at 9:20 a.m., per the email. After the flag ceremony, youth rock bands will perform.

The press release said that the youth rock bands are part of Olde Main Studio’s Real Rock Band program.

Olde Main Studios is a performance and visual arts venue in Springville, per its Facebook profile. The studio’s website says it provides lessons and performing opportunities.

Following the feature of youth rock groups, the music of the “Here Comes the Sun” festival will continue the rest of the day, concluding at 10 p.m., per the press release.

While admission is free, audience members will need to bring their own chairs or blankets.

“Here Comes the Sun” festival: more than music

According to the press release, “Here Comes the Sun” will also feature food trucks and vendors.

Additionally, there will be giveaways. They will include gift certificates and baskets, free meals, shirts and more. Notably, one of the listed items was an electric guitar and amplifier.

Presenting the festival

According to the press release, this year will be the fourth year the festival takes place in Payson.

The Utah Live Concerts Foundation is a nonprofit that was founded during the 2020 COVID shutdown of live events.

The nonprofit works to present free live concerts. It is partnered with the cities of Orem and Payson.

“One of our major focus areas is working with local youth-music programs… [to] provide quality opportunities and experiences performing rock-and-roll music,” said the organization’s website.
