Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities under fire after being seen with a Trump bumper sticker

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities is receiving backlash over a post shared on social media. The post points out a former President Trump bumper sticker on the back of one of their trucks. Now, people are questioning whether this is okay.

The incident was brought to the department’s attention on Tuesday. Jesse Stewart, deputy director of the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities, said this is against their policy.

“We don’t allow political types of bumper stickers or any other personal bumper stickers to go onto city vehicles,” he said.

As soon as they identified the employee involved with the Trump bumper sticker, they had it removed. They also sent a reminder of the city policy to all of their employees. They do this every year to prevent these kinds of incidents.

“We don’t have any demands of what people can be politically or not politically. However, when they’re at work and during work hours, there are some restrictions on what they can and can’t do as far as that political activity,” Stewart said.

Stewart says they are doing an investigation as to how this breach of protocol happened and whether they need to take any further actions.
