“Full disclosure: I am Rachel’s father.
Rachel Allen is one of those rare teachers who not only educates but also nurtures and inspires. Over the years she has had many at risk students–students who have needed extra motivation and direction.
In addition for her love for teaching, Rachel also has a love for learning. After graduating with BA in education from Westminster College, she decided to get her Master’s Degree. And through the years she has attended various seminars and clinics to enhance her teaching skills.
When I have had the opportunity to visit her class, I have observed an environment of mutual respect and genuine caring.
When I am with Rachel in public, it is not unusual for current and former students to cluster around her. Be it at the store, a theater lobby or the gym students will follow her around like she is the Pied Piper.
Rachel naturally creates lasting bonds with her students. She makes learning fun. But she can also push her students with the tenacity of a drill sergeant.
Rachel puts her heart into teaching, and the students give their hearts to Rachel.”
