“The world is filled with teachers that focus only on academic performance, but once in a while you can find a teacher who’s lessons go far beyond textbooks. Where the lessons are hope, and that anything is possible if you keep going. Miss Swallow understands that success is about more than grades. It’s about believing in yourself, finding your inner strength, and pushing beyond what you thought were your limits.
That is why I am nominating Copper Mountain Middle School teacher Miss Ami Swallow for a KSL/Cyprus Credit Union Teacher Feature Award. Miss Swallow teaches beginning choir, honors choir, music connections, theater, and is manager of the stage and tech crew
Miss Swallow isn’t just a teacher—she is a sister, a mother, and a friend. Her teaching goes far beyond the classroom, and the reason she stands above all others is her ability to see the potential in every student, no matter their circumstances.
When I began losing my sight I felt like the world was closing in. Not only was I losing my sight I was losing myself. All my dreams suddenly felt out of reach. I was scared, and worst of all i felt broken, but then she saved me
She never treated me like I was broken, she never lowered her expectations or doubted what I could do. Instead, she helped me see—truly see—that losing my sight didn’t mean losing myself. She showed me that I could still sing, still feel, still create. She reminded me that the music didn’t stop just because my vision changed. If anything, she helped me hear it more clearly than ever before.
Her strength, and faith in me lit a path when I couldn’t find one on my own. She is the kind of teacher that doesn’t just teach from a page—she teaches courage. She teaches hope. She changed my life, and thousands of other kids.
I beg of you to consider miss Ami swallow for a Teacher Feature Award”
