At approximately 2 a.m., someone reported a crash involving a pedestrian near 5600 W. 3700 South. When officers arrived, they found no pedestrians involved in the crash. Instead, an RV was found overturned on its side, according to Lt. Bill Merritt with the West Valley City Police Department.

One person was found dead inside the RV, likely due to the impact, Merritt said.
Another person was taken to the hospital with burn injuries, and there was at least one other person inside the RV who didn’t need to be taken to the hospital, according to police.
As of Tuesday morning, the cause of the crash was still under investigation, but Merritt said it’s possible that engine issues with the RV contributed.
The road was closed into the morning commute hours on 5600 West, between 3500 South and 4100 South, police said.
