Bystanders extinguish Woods Cross structure fire, one person seriously injured

SALT LAKE CITY — One person is hospitalized in serious condition after what was originally reported as a grass fire in Woods Cross on Monday.
When South Davis Metro Fire arrived at 1187 S. Redwood Road, they learned it was a structure fire and that bystanders used fire extinguishers to douse the flames.
When crews arrived, they said they found one person that worked in the Woods Cross business “with burns over a significant portion of their body.”
According to officials, the fire involved hazardous materials, which required the burn victim to be decontaminated before they were taken to the University of Utah Burn Center “in serious condition.”
An investigation is underway.
