West Jordan house fire believed to be arson as fourth victim dies in hospital

WEST JORDAN — Officials provided an update Saturday, confirming the deadly West Jordan house fire on Friday was believed to be the result of arson. They also confirmed that a fourth person had died at the hospital.
Sgt. Andrew Hercules with the West Jordan Police Department said investigators believe the arson was committed by one of the deceased individuals. Police believe it was an isolated event.
“Inside the residence, crews found three deceased individuals: An adult male, an adult female, and a juvenile male,” Hercules said.
The fourth person in the house, a juvenile female, was flown to the University of Utah hospital but officials confirmed she died on Saturday.
“Due to the nature of this horrific event, the Office of the Medical Examiner is still working to positively identify the individuals involved,” Hercules said. “We believe each of these individuals are part of the same family and there is no danger to the public, related to this incident.”
