“Rebecca started her career in teaching working as a Special Ed Teacher where her patience, kindness and effectiveness changed hundreds of lives. As a special ed teacher she worked hard for nearly 15 years giving special ed kids confidence, moving them forward and intervening to help them with speech, becoming more resilient & serving tirelessly remembering birthdays, milestones and staying in touch with students as they moved into post secondary education gaining scholarships etc.
Said of her by 1 student indicative of so many lives changed: “Mrs Rasmussen made it possible for me to gain confidence to achieve things I never thought possible.” Whether it was serving in PTA impacting lives there, volunteering for extra assignments with no pay impacting students as a role model and so much more, Mrs Rasmussen sought selfless service, dignity, and instilled confidence in young students who often regular teachers struggled to teach.
In recent years Mrs Rasmussen started an at home preschool, where so far she’s taught upwards of nearly 75 kids the basics making them more prepared for kindergarten. She does this with an enthusiasm and love that helps these young kids love learning long after they left her classes. In her efforts she teaches each Spring and Fall 24 kids at a time throughout the week in several classes of 6-8 kids.
One parent said “Thank goodness for Mrs Rebecca who helped our child grow from a shy, scared kid to become a confident kindergartener.” Many times as she goes to the store & out in the community kids and parents will surround her as she greets them as their hero. To lpve children, to spend countless hours of prep time, to serve in various capacities where young lives are touched Rebecca Rasmussen is worthy of this opportunity to be recognized.
