“Miss Felsted inspires her students by creating a classroom where reading feels magical and curiosity is the natural state of learning. She has a remarkable gift for instilling a genuine love of books in her first graders. She teaches them the elements of a good story—character, setting, conflict, and even the concept of a cliffhanger—inviting them to think like real readers and writers. Each day during her read-aloud, her students become so captivated that when she closes the book, the entire class erupts in a joyful chorus of “cliffhaaannnnngggeeerr!” This ritual not only shows their excitement, but also demonstrates how she sparks anticipation, engagement, and critical thinking.
Her impact stretches far beyond academics. Her students adore her so deeply that many are genuinely sad when the weekend arrives because they will miss her too much. That level of connection speaks to the trust, warmth, and emotional safety she cultivates. Miss Felsted supports student growth by meeting learners where they are, celebrating every milestone, and creating an environment where taking risks is encouraged. Through her enthusiasm, intentional teaching, and genuine care, she helps her students see themselves as capable, curious, and joyful learners every single day.”
