Man critical, dog stable after explosion rocks Mantua trailer park

SALT LAKE CITY — An early morning explosion injured a man and a dog at an RV park on 98 N. Main Street in Mantua.
An investigation continued on Monday, but the Chief of Mantua Police, Dakota Midkiff, told KSL that investigators believe the explosion was linked to a malfunctioning propane line within the trailer.
Midkiff said a male resident and a dog were injured. The male, who Midkiff estimated to be in his 50s, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. He was later Life-Flighted to another hospital.
The dog was taken to an animal hospital, where it was reported to be in stable condition.
Witness reported there was a fire, according to Midkiff, but they extinguished it with a fire extinguisher prior to fire department’s arrival.

Multiple agencies responded to the explosion, including Brigham City Police, Brigham City Fire and the Mantua Fire Department.
