Man in serious condition after being hit by bus in Sandy

SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in the hospital after being hit by a bus while riding a scooter in Sandy.

Sgt. Michael Olsen with the Sandy Police Department said the incident took place just after 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Newcastle Drive and Highland Drive.

Olsen said a UTA bus hit a man in his 30s while he was riding on a scooter. The man is now in the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police are talking to witnesses and are still piecing together what happened. As of the time of publication, they do not suspect DUI or impairment was involved.

Minor road closures were in place as police investigated the scene.
