SOUTH SALT LAKE — Three people were shot early Sunday morning in a residential area near 300 East and Penney Avenue in South Salt Lake, police say.
According to police, they found three people with gunshot wounds around 2:45 a.m. South Salt Lake Police spokesperson Shaun Ward said two were men and one was a boy under the age of 18.
On Monday morning, Ward said one of the men remained in critical condition, while the other two were stable.
Investigators don’t have suspect information yet but believe the shooting was a targeted, isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
“Detectives do believe that an altercation took place before the shooting, leading up to it, and are currently chasing down all leads. This is very much still an active and open investigation,” Ward said.
He said police detained multiple people at the scene of the shooting and interviewed them.
