Provo Police close Rock Canyon after suspected fall death

SALT LAKE CITY — Provo Police announced the closure of Rock Canyon and the Rock Canyon Trailhead after a man was found dead after a suspected fall.
Police requested the public avoid the area while investigators examined the scene.
Janna-Lee Holland with the Provo City Police said witnesses called the police around 12:50 p.m. after seeing someone falling from the cliff face in Rock Canyon.
By the time officials made it to the scene, the man had already died. No life-saving operations were performed.
Detectives identified the man as American Fork resident 33-year-old Weston Huff. Huff was adventuring alone when he died, but is known to be an experienced sky diver.
Police said Huff appeared to be base jumping in an area of Rock Canyon known as ‘Bad Bananas’ when his parachute likely malfunctioned.
