Man arrested after attacking Utah Capitol building, breaking glass, say police

SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly damaged glass doors inside the Utah Capitol building.

According to Lt. Cameron Roden, the man entered the Utah Capitol around noon using the north entrance.

Police said the man “gained access” to a fire extinguisher and used it to bludgeon multiple doors inside the building, cracking the glass and causing property damage.

Police said the man was arrested by Utah Highway Patrol troopers “without incident.”

Roden said the investigation into the situation was ongoing and there were no specific government individual or office targeted.
