Bluffdale Mayor defends husband after he was accused of threatening her one-time political opponent

BLUFFDALE, Utah — The mayor of Bluffdale is defending her husband one week after he was accused of threatening her one-time political opponent.
On her Facebook page, Mayor Natalie Hall said in a post that her husband Jason absolutely denies any involvement with threats of violence. Additionally, she added that she won’t be stepping down.
Jason was accused recently of threatening the life of and sending threatening packages to his wife’s one-time political opponent, City Councilman Jason Gaston, and he now faces charges.
In her post, Mayor Hall said that her husband did send emails and what she describes as “humorous packages” to the city council. However, she said, this was done without her knowledge and only after she had been bullied and repeatedly threatened by a member of the city council.
“Since 2020, the Bluffdale City Staff, including me, when I worked as the Emergency Manager, were repeatedly threatened, attacked, wrongly accused, and bullied by a member of the Bluffdale City Council, making for a hostile workplace,” she said in her Facebook post.
Mayor Hall said that this alleged bullying got worse when she told people she was interested in running for mayor.
“After telling people I was interested in running for Mayor, this person’s aggression toward me and other employees escalated,” she wrote. “This council member supported multiple unfounded formal investigations of me and other employees, the results of which showed no wrongdoing.”
Mayor Hall didn’t say if this council member was Gaston but did say that, given the toll the alleged bullying took, she appreciated her husband defending her honor.
“Campaigns are hard on a candidate’s loved ones, and the campaign to be Bluffdale’s Mayor was no different,” Mayor Hall wrote. “I stand by my husband of 25 years.”
Mayor Hall said she has faith in the justice system and is asking for patience as they “work to share the truth.”
In the meantime, Mayor Hall said her only desire is to continue to serve the city of Bluffdale and do the job she was elected to do.
