Heavy rain causes rock slide that injures two

HELPER, Utah — A rock slide resulted in two large boulders crashing through the windshield of an SUV Sunday night.
Reports of a rock slide came in at approximately 8:30 p.m. Helper Fire crews arrived on the scene subsequently finding a couple inside the SUV had been injured by the two large rocks.
According to Sgt. Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol, “Last night at about 8:15 a blue Ford exposition was traveling eastbound on SR-6 near the SR-191 junction. A large rock came off the mountain and came through the windshield hitting the driver and front-seat passenger.”
Roden reported that the adult male driver suffered serious injuries and the adult female passenger was in Bravo [moderate] condition.
Crews extricated the couple from the vehicle and transported them to Castleview Hospital.
Heavy rainfall Sunday morning caused the rocks on the hillside to come loose and roll into the roadway.
Caution and slower speeds are advised when traveling Highway 6.
