Park City wreck claims the life of a 55-year-old man

PARK CITY, Utah — A 55-year-old man is dead after a wreck in Park City Wednesday morning.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Randall Richey said around 7:30 a.m., the driver of a Mazda was traveling down Marsac Avenue when the car drifted into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason. Richey says it struck a Nissan pick-up going up the hill.
“That impact was fairly minor, but it caused the Mazda to spin sideways, and it was hit on the passenger side door by a Toyota Tacoma going up the hill, in T-bone fashion,” Richey said.
A 55-year-old man, the driver of the Mazda, was killed in the Park City wreck. The drivers of the two other vehicles involved sustained minor injuries.
Richey says the driver of the Mazda was wearing a seat belt, and he does not know if drowsiness or distracted driving was a factor. Witnesses reported the Mazda driver may have been going too fast, but troopers have not confirmed that speed was a factor.
Investigators say the driver who was killed had an out-of-state driver’s license but may have lived in Utah. One of the other two drivers is from Park City, the other from West Jordan.
