Teen facing felonies, charged with stealing tithing checks from church

NEPHI, Utah — An 18-year-old man is in the Juab County Jail and charged with felony theft, burglary, and felony mischief for reportedly breaking into a church with two other men and taking tithing checks.
Tithing refers to the practice of someone giving a portion of their income to their church.
A police charging document shows David Moroni Raynor, 18, turned himself in at the Juab County Sheriff’s office on April 23.
After reportedly waiving his Miranda Rights, Raynor told officials that he and two other men entered a church building in Rocky Ridge on April 13.
Surveillance video reportedly shows them leaving the church and then returning. On the second try, and after the use of a fire extinguisher, San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputy Brady Talbot said the men broke into boxes containing tithing checks.
Raynor identified the two men with him that night as Pole A. Singoma, 20, and Fayzan N. Ali, 18. The Unified Police Department identified Singoma and Ali as gang members with weapons and drug charges.
