Workforce Services launches new service for Utah job seekers

SALT LAKE CITY — State officials have a new campaign to help Utah workers find a new job or a better job.
Utah Workforce Services (DWS) is offering free one-on-one help for job seekers through the revamped website, jobs.utah.gov/career.
This new Career and Education campaign launched on Monday. DWS officials said they want to help people with tuition assistance to finish a certificate or degree, training to get an occupational certificate or licensing or on-the-job training from employers.
Options for job seekers
There’s also free one-on-one advising and financial help for school or training for those who qualify by income or those who have been laid off from a job.
“Whether you’re a job seeker looking for your next opportunity or an employer looking to expand, we want you to know you have options,” said Elizabeth Carver, Workforce Development director, in a news release. “The Workforce Development Division fuels Utah’s economic engine by supporting the workforce with training, education and other resources. Aligning the skills and knowledge for our citizens with the needs of employers is our top priority.”
This program was launched after Utah Gov. Spencer Cox announced an end to pandemic-specific federal stimulus programs or enhanced unemployment benefits. A number of Utah employers said they’re having a hard time finding people to apply for their open positions.
