“A Charlie Brown Christmas” celebrates 60 years on Tuesday

SALT LAKE CITY — “A Charlie Brown Christmas” turned 60 years old on Tuesday, marking six decades since the first animated TV special based on Charles M. Schulz’s iconic “Peanuts” characters.
The Associated Press reported the show premiered on Dec. 9, 1965, on CBS, almost 15 years after the first Peanuts cartoon was published in newspapers on Oct. 2, 1950.
Families interested in streaming the holiday classic can find it anytime on Apple TV+ for the next five years until the current licensing deal is up.
Those who are not interested in purchasing another streaming service can watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Saturday and Sunday for free.
