SALT LAKE CITY — An up-and-coming movie studio has chosen its debut screenplay from an unlikely source, a Utah Valley University student.
Digital Cinema major, Jessa Wright said she’s honored to have her screenplay picked up by local movie studio, FanX Studios.
“This opportunity is once in a lifetime,” Wright said. “So many screenwriters never even have this opportunity … I just can’t wait to run with it and see how far I can go.”
FanX Studios has partnered with UVU to give students real-life experience in the industry. In the screenplay pitching class, students get the opportunity to share their ideas with the studio. That’s how it found Wright and her screenplay.
“So the plot is still under wraps, but I can say that it is a supernatural thriller that takes place at the Vatican,” she said.
Wright is an executive producer and will take part in the entire process of making the film. Much of the film’s development will be happening here in Utah.
