NEW YORK CITY — The Rocketman will be taking to the stage again on Friday. Sort of. Five-time Grammy winner Elton John will stream a rebroadcast of his Madison Square Garden concert held in 2000 to help raise funds for charity.
The free show will premiere on Friday at 1 p.m. as a part of his Classic Concert Series on Youtube, just one day after the Rocketman celebrated 30 years of sobriety.
If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have inspired and supported me along the way.

As all major touring acts came to a halt because of COVID-19, John’s ‘Farewell, Yellow Brick Road’ tour was canceled. However, fans still have a chance to catch six monumental performances from his decades of touring as they are re-broadcast by the online video giant.
While the Elton John Classic Concert Series series can be stream entirely free on Youtube, fans are encouraged to donate to COVID-19 Fund for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
John says this week’s performance comes from a special place in his career. Madison Square Garden has been one of Elton’s favorite places to perform. He’s rocked crowds there for an impressive 70 shows.
In a tweet early Thursday morning he said, “I’m really excited for this week’s Classic Concert Series stream – one of the most memorable concerts of my career.”
