ST. GEORGE — A missionary at the St. George Airport was ecstatic to see his family after two long years, but he also had a surprise celebrity encounter.
Half an hour before Micah Hyde’s plane landed on July 10, more than 70 friends and family members were gathered at the airport anxiously awaiting his return from Seattle.
Meanwhile, singer Post Malone was right outside talking on the phone. He was headed back to Salt Lake City after visiting a luxury resort in southern Utah.
After his call, Post Malone approached the Hyde herd and asked why they were there. For 15 minutes the singer conversed with the family about Hyde’s mission, and the family even got a video of Malone telling Hyde congratulations and welcome home.
Hyde told KSL.com that his family thought it was such a cool experience, they immediately showed him the video once he got off the plane and arrived. Hyde said he thought it was so crazy his family got that video.
Shortly after, while he was visiting with all the people who came to see him, Malone walked back into the airport. Hyde said he ran over to where the singer was and got to hug and talk with Malone and get a picture with him.
