“Swift Quake” caused by Taylor Swift fans during concert

SEATTLE, Wash. — People in Seattle might have noticed a small quake over the weekend caused by Taylor Swift fans during an “Eras Tour” concert.
In 2011, football fans in Seattle stomped and screamed so hard for a Seahawks touchdown run at Lumen Field, it set off nearby earthquake sensors. They called it the “Beast Quake”.
History repeated itself at the Lumen Field over the weekend. This time, “Swifties” topped the seismic activity during the two-night concert with 72,000 fans in Seattle.
Western Washington University Geology professor Jackie Caplan-Auerbach says the activity was measurable. “If the “Beast Quake” was a 2.0, this was a 2.3 [on the Richter scale].”
How does that even work?
“Whether or not it was the jumping of the people or the impact of the sound system. Obviously, it generated a huge amount of energy for both the people and the seismometer,” said Caplan-Auerbach.
Elizabeth Shaw was at Sunday’s Seattle show, she called Taylor Swift a force of nature.
“I could not believe that she had done that two nights in a row… it was impressive,” Shaw said.
The “Eras Tour” now heads to Santa Clara in Northern California for six shows in Los Angeles, before taking the tour to international venues.
KSL NewsRadio checked, but could not find any recorded evidence of seismic activity during a game at Rice-Eccles Stadium or Lavell Edwards in Provo.
