Man, woman shot in Kearns; suspect in custody, police say

KEARNS — A man and a woman were shot in Kearns early Wednesday, according to Unified police. Police announced hours later that they had taken a suspect into custody.
Sgt. Aymee Race told KSL police responded near 5600 West and Nautilus Drive just before 1:30 a.m. Upon arrival, police found the woman had been shot multiple times, and the man had been hit at least once.
Race said detectives believe there was only one shooter involved, but initially, no arrests were made. Then, the Unified Police Department announced at approximately 12:40 p.m. that the suspect had been taken into custody.
The violent crime unit was on scene investigating and couldn’t yet determine if the incident was gang-related.
