SALT LAKE CITY — A teenage boy is dead after crashing his motorcycle on the Alpine Loop Monday afternoon.
Lt. Cam Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old boy was riding a motorcycle down the Alpine Loop toward American Fork on state Route 92 near the Timpanogos Cave National Monument.
The Department of Public Safety said the teen lost control after rounding a corner. The 17-year-old crashed and sustained serious injuries.
Following this, via ambulance, the 17-year-old was transported further down the canyon, where he was meant to be airlifted in a helicopter to the hospital. However, Roden said the teen died before making it to the helicopter.
The American Fork side of the Alpine Loop is currently closed.
