WEST VALLEY CITY — A person out walking their dog saw a man lying dead on the sidewalk near 4500 W. 3935 South in West Valley City early Thursday morning. Police believe he was stabbed at a party the night before.
According to police, the man was found dead just before 8 a.m., with blood coming from his shoulder area. The West Valley Police Department identified him as 45-year-old Jose Humberto Alvarado.
The department said Alvarado had been at a party the night before he was found. Detectives spoke to his girlfriend, 39-year-old Fabiola Lara, who was also at the party.
West Valley PD said officers responded to that party at 1:30 a.m., before Alvarado was found, because Alvarado was allegedly “caught taking the leggings off of Lara’s 11-year-old female relative.” By the time officers got to the home, the man had already left, according to the department.
“The investigation into the homicide revealed that prior to Alvarado leaving, Lara and Alvarado had a confrontation in front of the home. It is suspected that Lara stabbed Alvarado,” West Valley PD said.
The department said Lara was booked into jail, accused of felony murder.
