SALT LAKE CITY — Search and rescue teams recovered the body of a man at Causey Reservoir Saturday evening after he was reportedly cliff jumping earlier that day.
Lt. Sean Endsley with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office said authorities received a 911 call about a possible drowning at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Endsley said a 23-year-old man had cliff jumped at the reservoir’s east side. He reportedly resurfaced from the water, but then went back under and wasn’t seen. Authorities found him dead at 9:10 p.m.
A helicopter was on scene assisting with the search, but had since left after spotting no sign of the man. Endsley said detectives were on scene investigating, and the man’s body had been sent to a medical examiner.
Authorities did not release the identity of the man.
Roads were closed near the Weber Memorial Campground while rescue teams were on scene.
